Montclair Robotics was formed in 2001 by Montclair High School seniors. In the same year, the team competed at the New York City Regional. The following year, 2002, Montclair Robotics competed at the Johnson & Johnson Mid-Atlantic regional. In 2003, the team advanced to the World Championship in Houston, Texas, where they won the Sportsmanship-GP Award. This streak of advancing to the World Championship lasted 7 years. In the same year, 2003, Montclair Robotics also helped mentor Team 1156 from Brazil. In 2006, Team 555 won the Johnson & Johnson Sportsmanship Award. In 2010, the team won the Coopertition Award. Two years later, the team, yet again, advanced to the World Championship. The following year the team won the Creativity Award. In 2017, Montclair Robotics won the FCA Foundation Team Spirit Award at the Mid-Atlantic District Championship. The next year, in 2018, Team 555 won the Gracious Professionalism Award at the Montgomery, NJ District Event. To continue the award-winning streak, Montclair Robotics won the Judge’s Award and won the 2019 Bensalem District Event and in the 2022 Bridgewater district competition, we won the Team Spirit Award. To continue this winning streak in the 2023 competition at Warren Hills we both won the Autonomous Award and were the overall winning alliance.
